WAIPAHU, HI – One man was killed and another was injured when their mopeds collided in Waipahu Saturday night, according to police in Honolulu.
Hawaii News Now reports the accident took place in the vicinity of Farrington Highway and Paiwa Street at about 9:45 p.m. Investigators determined that one of the moped riders was speeding while heading west on Farrington Highway and crashed into the other moped that was turning at Paiwa Street, causing both riders to be ejected.
The first rider, a 28-year-old man, was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital. The second rider, a 34-year-old man, was hospitalized in serious condition.
The incident remains under investigation by Honolulu police, who said speed was apparently a contributing factor in the crash.
