MILILANI, HI – An accident in Mililani on Thursday evening left a moped rider hospitalized, reports the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
According to police, a man was riding a moped south on Kamehameha Highway when the incident took place at about 7:10 p.m.
The moped was hit from behind by a 32-year-old motorist near Lanikuhana Avenue. Another driver tried to avoid the crash, veered off the road and hit the moped rider. The victim, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was transported to the hospital and listed in critical condition.
The first driver was not injured while the second motorist, age 39, suffered minor injuries. Both remained at the scene following the incident.
