WAIPAHU, HI – Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle in the Waipahu area last week.
According to a release from the Honolulu Police Department, the crash happened Dec. 6 on Kunia Road at about 10:25 p.m.
It was reported to accident investigators that a 37-year-old man was riding a motorcycle southbound when he lost control, traveled into the northbound lane, and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old man.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected onto the grassy shoulder of the roadway. He was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
The driver of the vehicle and his 32-year-old female passenger were not injured and stayed at the scene.
Police have yet to determine whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
