Man killed after losing control of motorcycle on Kaumuali’i Highway in Lihu’e

LIHU’E, HI – An accident in Lihu’e on Sunday night caused the death of a motorcyclist, according to a KITV report.

First responders were called to the area of Kaumuali’i Highway near Ho’omana Road after being notified of the incident at about 11 p.m.   An investigation determined that a 23-year-old man was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle eastbound when he lost control and crashed.

The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after being taken to the Wilcox Medical Center.

The Kauai Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section responded to the scene to investigate the crash, which shut down Laumuali’i Highway in both directions for about two hours.
