HONOLULU, HI – A motorcyclist has died of injuries suffered in a collision in the Pearl City area earlier this year, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The crash happened July 15 on Waipahu Street shortly after 5 a.m. Investigators learned that a 50-year-old man was riding a motorcycle eastbound at a high rate of speed when he collided with an 18-year-old male pedestrian who was not in a marked crosswalk.
The motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition. On Dec. 11, police were notified by the Medical Examiner’s Office that the motorcycle rider had passed away. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the fatal accident.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
At the time, police said appeared to have been a contributing factor in the collision.
