KAPOLEI, HI – An accident in Oaha early Sunday morning claimed the life of a motorcycle rider, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene on Kapolei Parkway in the Kapolei area after the incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m.
According to investigators, a 35-year-old man was riding a motorcycle westbound on the parkway when he lost control of the bike and was ejected onto the median.
The victim, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
Police have yet to determine whether speed, alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
