MAUI, HI – Police released details of a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred in Maui County Thursday morning, according to Hawaii News Now.

The incident took place on the Maui Veterans Highway near the Maui Baseyard Road in Kahului.  Investigators said the operator of a 2022 Yamaha MT-03 motorcycle was speeding while going north shortly before 7:45 a.m.

While weaving through traffic and trying to pass other vehicles, the motorcycle crashed into the back of a vehicle.  The motorcycle rider was ejected, and was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was identified as 33-year-old Logan Ladwig.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.  No one else was injured.

It is believed that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
