KAHULUI, HI – Maui police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred recently in Kahului.
In a press release, police said the single-vehicle collision happened June 1 at about 12:24 a.m. on Pulehu Road, about 300 feet north of Omaopio Road.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of a 2006 Honda Ruckus motorcycle was traveling northbound on Pulehu Road when the bike veered off the roadway and collided with a tree.
The driver, identified as 55-year-old Bryan Rhoades of Kuna, was ejected from the motorcycle and was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on June 6. Rhoades was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
