MILILANI, HI – Police say a motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a vehicle in the Mililani area on Saturday afternoon.
According to a news release from the Honolulu Police Department, the crash occurred at about 4:25 p.m. on the H-2 Freeway near the Leilehua Golf Course overpass.
An investigation found that the motorcyclist was headed south at a high rate of speed and crashed into the back of a vehicle. The motorcycle rider, a 27-year-old man, was in critical condition after being taken to an area hospital. He was not wearing a helmet when the accident happened.
The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old man, and his five passengers were not injured. They stayed at the scene.
Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
