HONOLULU, HI – A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a vehicle in the Airport area last week, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The incident took place Feb. 11 at about 9:45 p.m. on North Nimitz Highway near Main Street.
Crash investigators determined that the motorcycle rider, a 32-year-old man, was as traveling eastbound on North Nimitz Highway at a high rate of speed when the bike rear-ended a vehicle.
The rider was ejected onto the roadway and was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
Police believe that speed was a contributing factor in the accident, but it was not yet clear whether drugs or alcohol played any role.
