HONOLULU, HI – A motorcyclist died after colliding with a sedan in the Kailua area, the Honolulu Police Department said.
The incident happened March 2 on Pali Highway near the entrance to Saint Stephen Diocesan Center. A preliminary investigation determined that a 56-year-old man was riding a motorcycle northbound shortly before 9 a.m. when he broadsided a southbound vehicle trying to make a left turn into Saint Stephen Diocesan Center.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike, and was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the sedan, a 73-year-old woman, was hospitalized in serious condition.
Police believe speed was a contributing factor in the wreck, but that drugs and alcohol were not involved.
