HONOLULU, HI – The Honolulu Police Department released an update on a motorcycle collision that occurred May 30 on Kamehameha Highway in the Kahaluu area.
Police said the 27-year-old man who had been critically injured in the crash was pronounced dead of his injuries.
The fatal accident took place on Kamehameha Highway at the intersection with Wailehua Road. The police department’s Traffic Division learned that the 27-year-old motorcyclist was headed south at about 10:37 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound vehicle trying to make a left turn onto Wailehua Road.
The rider was ejected onto the roadway and rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The other driver involved, a 35-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and said that neither speed, drugs nor alcohol appear to have been contributing factors.
