HONOLULU, HI – Honolulu police and Emergency Medical Services paramedics responded to the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident on Saturday night.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the crash occurred along the H-1 Freeway near the Ward Avenue overpass.

Investigators determined that a man was riding a motorcycle in the westbound lanes of the freeway at about 11:18 p.m. when he collided with another vehicle and was ejected from the bike.  The motorcyclist was then struck by another vehicle.

The 27-year-old rider, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Police said their investigation has indicated that speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
