HONOLULU, HI – Honolulu police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on Pali Highway early Friday morning, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
The victim was a 23-year-old man who was riding eastbound when the crash happened near Nuuanu Pali Drive at about 2:24 a.m. The police department’s Traffic Division said the rider was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the bike and crashed into a concrete curb.
The motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and died after being taken to an area trauma center. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the incident but have yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol were factors. It was Oahu’s 31st traffic fatality of 2025, an increase from 14 at this time last year.
