KAPOLEI, HI – An accident in Kapolei on Wednesday evening sent a Honolulu Police Department officer to the hospital.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the motorcycle officer was injured in a collision on Farrington Highway near Laaloa Street. The officer was traveling west on a police motorcycle on the highway’s right shoulder at about 5 p.m. Another westbound vehicle also pulled onto the shoulder, resulting in a crash that knocked the officer from the motorcycle onto the roadway.
The officer, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to an area hospital and was listed in serious condition.
The other driver, a 61-year-old man, and his two children were not injured. Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
