HONOLULU, HI – Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that killed a motorcyclist in the Kunia area last week.
The Honolulu Police Department released details of the crash, which occurred Dec. 22 shortly before 9 a.m. on Kunia Road.
An investigation determined that the driver of a pickup truck was heading south and collided with a motorcycle rider. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be redirected off the roadway onto the shoulder of Kunia Road, where the bike hit a utility pole and then burst into flames.
The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, died at the scene. Police said speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the wreck. Anyone with further information was asked to contact the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division.
