HONOLULU, HI – Authorities believe speed was a factor in a deadly motorcycle accident that occurred Thursday morning in Honolulu, according to Hawaii News Now.
Honolulu police said a man was riding a motorcycle at high speed north on Wilikina Drive in Schofield when the incident took place at about 5:50 a.m. The motorcycle broadsided a vehicle leaving a residential area.
The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old man, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle that was broadsided refused treatment at the scene after sustaining minor injuries.
Police said the motorcycle rider, whose name was not released, was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
A stretch of Wilikina Drive was closed between Kunia Road and Macomb Road for the crash investigation.
