WAIKIKI, HI – Honolulu Emergency Medical Services came to the aid of a moped rider who was injured in a collision in Waikiki on Friday night, KITV reported.
The incident took place in the vicinity of Kalia Road and Saratoga Road shortly after 8 p.m. Preliminary details indicated that a 26-year-old man riding a moped was hit by a car and was thrown several feet.
The rider, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was treated at the scene for injuries that were not life-threatening, and was then transported to a local emergency room where he was listed in serious condition.
There was no immediate word on whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
