HONOLULU, HI – Police are investigating an accident in Honolulu that left a moped rider critically injured.
According to a release from the Honolulu Police Department, the crash occurred on Farrington Highway in the Nanakuli area on Feb 24 at about 10:13 p.m.
The police department’s Traffic Division learned that a man was riding a moped east on Farrington Highway when he crossed over the westbound lanes and collided with a vehicle head-on.
Emergency Medical Services rushed the moped rider to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
