HONOLULU, HI – A moped rider was critically injured Friday night in a collision with a vehicle in Maili, KHON reports.
Honolulu police and EMS crews responded to the scene in the area of Farrington Highway and St. John’s Road. According to investigators, the moped rider was going west on Farrington Highway with no headlights while traveling at a high rate of speed. A 38-year-old man driving a vehicle was trying to turn left onto St. John’s Road from the eastbound lane and struck the moped rider.
The rider was transported to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition. The accident shut down Farrington Highway in both directions.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Honolulu police.
