NANAKULI, HI – A man is facing criminal charges in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in Nanakuli in February 2022, Hawaii News Now reports.
Authorities said 29-year-old Joseph Peters-Holokahi was arrested and has been indicted in the case by an Oahu grand jury.
Peters-Holokahi was allegedly speeding and driving under the influence on Haleakala Avenue when he lost control and slammed into a parked car. Two people in the vehicle, 38-year-old Kelsey Palisbo and her 7-year-old daughter, were killed. Another daughter, age 17, was critically injured in the incident, which happened in front of the family’s home.
Peters-Holokahi is charged with two counts of manslaughter and three counts of collisions involving death or serious bodily injury. He faces up to 20 years in prison on the manslaughter charge if convicted.
