HONOLULU, HI – A man involved in an electric scooter crash earlier this month in Kalihi has died of his injuries, police said.
The Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division said it was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 51-year-old victim had passed away.,
The man was riding an electric scooter east on North King Street Oct. 4 when the accident happened at about 7:48 p.m. A preliminary investigation by Honolulu police indicated that the man lost control of the scooter for unknown reasons, crashed into a roadway stanchion, and was ejected onto the raised center median.
Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
