HAWAII KAI, HI – A crash between two motorcycles in the Hawaii Kai area on Friday night left one of the riders dead, according to a KITV report.
The collision took place on Kalanianaole Highway near Halona Beach Cove at about 10 p.m. Police said one motorcyclist, a 39-year-old man, was heading westbound and rear-ended another bike. The first motorcyclist lost control and crashed into a guardrail.
The 39-year-old was ejected and was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The other rider, a 23-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
It is not believed that speed was a contributing factor in the fatal wreck, but police have yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
