HONOLULU, HI – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Honolulu early Sunday morning, according to a KITV report.
The collision occurred on North Nimitz Highway near the intersection of Lagoon Drive in the Airport area. Authorities said a 35-year-old man was lying in the roadway shortly after 5 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 64-year-old man.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital. The driver involved was not injured, remained at the scene, and was not arrested.
Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
The Honolulu Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
