EWA BEACH, HI – A man was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in the Ewa Beach area on Saturday afternoon, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The victim, a 30-year-old man, was riding south on Old Fort Weaver Road when the crash took place at about 4:36 p.m.
It was reported to the police department’s Traffic Division that the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control negotiating a turn, traveled to the right of the roadway, and up a raised embankment.
The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected onto the embankment and transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 30-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, police say speed appears to be a contributing factor in the collision, but it remains to be seen whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
