HONOLULU, HI – Two people were injured, one critically, in a collision involving a vehicle and a moped in Honolulu on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the incident took place in the vicinity of Isenberg Street and South King Street in the McCully-Moiliili area.
An investigation determined that a 59-year-old man was riding a moped south on Isenberg Street when he disregarded a red traffic signal at the intersection at about 3:18 p.m. The moped was struck by a vehicle driven by a teenage girl who had the right of way while going east on South King Street.
The moped rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was listed in critical condition after being taken to an area hospital. The teenager sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
