Pedestrian critically injured in collision on Ala Moana Boulevard in Honolulu

HONOLULU, HI – A pedestrian was critically injured in a collision in the Honolulu area last Thursday night, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

The incident happened on Ala Moana Boulevard near the intersection of Ward Avenue at about 10:25 p.m.  Investigators learned that a man ran north across the roadway against the illuminated Do Not Walk sign and was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The pedestrian was taken by EMS to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition.  The driver of the vehicle, a 58-year-old man, and his passenger, a 58-year-old woman,                                          were not injured and stayed at the scene.

Police do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
