KAIMUKI, HI – The Honolulu Police Department responded to the scene of a deadly accident in the Kaimuki area, Hawaii News Now reports.
The victim was an 81-year-old man whose vehicle crashed on Sierra Drive near Wilhelmina Rise on Wednesday morning.
According to police, the driver was trying to make a U-turn at about 8:35 a.m. when he veered off the roadway and collided with a rock wall. Investigators believe he may suffered some kind of medical condition prior to the crash. He was wearing a seat belt at the time.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was declared dead after being transported to an area hospital.
Honolulu police said that at this time, speed, drugs or alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors in the incident.
