Man, 78, dies after driving off road, crashing into tree in Mililani

MILILANI, HI – A driver who crashed his vehicle in Mililani last month has died of his injuries, Hawaii News Now reports.

The accident happened March 4 on Lanikuhana Avenue, where a 78-year-old man driving westbound went off the roadway and collided with a tree.

The driver was taken to an area hospital, where his condition steadily declined.  Honolulu police said he  was pronounced dead on Wednesday.  His name was not released.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and it has yet to be determined whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
