HONOLULU, HI – A man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck in the Makiki area early Sunday morning, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The 63-year-old victim was driving westbound on the H-1 Freeway when the crash took place at about 4:18 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle struck the center concrete median and the driver lost control. The vehicle then collided into the wall of the Vineyard Boulevard off-ramp.
The driver was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police do not believe speed was a contributing factor in the incident, but have yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
