MAUI, HI – A pedestrian collision on Maui last week claimed the life of a Kahului man, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

The accident took place on Thursday night at about 8:46 p.m.   The Maui Police Department’s investigation indicated that a man was walking from the ocean across Kahului Beach Road heading to the Harbor Lights Apartments.

The pedestrian was struck in the outer right lane of the roadway by a 2017 Ford Fusion bound for Wailuku.  He was pronounced dead after being transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center.

The victim was identified as 28-year-old Tory Nabu.  The Ford driver, a 65-year-old woman from Waiehu, was not injured.

Maui police are trying to determine whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
