Juvenile driving car in Pupukea area hits 2 pedestrians, killing 1

PUPUKEA, HI – Honolulu police said a juvenile male driving a car hit two pedestrians Tuesday morning, killing one of them.

Hawaii News Now reports the incident happened on Kamehameha Highway in the Pupukea area shortly before 7 a.m.

According to police, two women ages 70 and 68 were walking on the roadway when the driver lost control of his vehicle while going west.  He crashed into the two pedestrians, and the 70-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.  The 68-year-old sustained minor injuries.

The driver, whose age was not released, was not injured.

Investigators do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
