HONOLULU, HI – A pedestrian was struck and injured in Honolulu by a driver who left the scene, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The collision occurred April 7 on Hopaka Street at about 8:55 p.m. An initial investigation indicated that a 31-year-old man was driving eastbound on Hopaka Street when he struck a parked and unoccupied vehicle.
The motorist then struck a 43-year-old male pedestrian who was standing outside of his vehicle, before hitting another parked vehicle containing a 42-year-old woman and three children, a 2-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
No other injuries were reported. The driver involved kept going east on Hopaka Street without stopping to render aid or provide information.
Investigators said speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in the collision, but it was not yet clear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
