PEARL CITY, HI – Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident in the Pearl City area that left a motorcyclist seriously injured.
The collision took place along Kamehameha Highway on Sunday afternoon, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
An investigation determined that the motorcycle rider was headed west at about 3:20 p.m. when he lost control of the bike near Acadia Road and was ejected onto the roadway. At that point, the motorcyclist was struck by an unknown motorist who kept going west on Kamehameha Highway without stopping to provide any help or information. That driver has yet to be identified.
The motorcyclist, a 71-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital in serious condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said.
