KALIHI, HI – Police have reported a fatality as a result of a head-on collision that happened earlier this month in the Kalihi area.
According to a report in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, a 54-year-old man who was a passenger in one of the vehicles has died from his injuries. The crash took place Oct. 4 on North School Street.
Police said a driver going eastbound at about 10:50 p.m. tried to turn left into a private establishment and crashed into another vehicle that was headed west at a high rate of speed.
The 54-year-old man who died was a passenger in the first vehicle. The driver of that car, a 49-year-old man, was hospitalized in serious condition. The driver of the second car, a 32-year-old man, was also seriously injured.
Police investigating the accident said that speed appears to have been a contributing factor.
