LILIHA, HI – A pedestrian accident in Liliha Wednesday morning claimed the life of an elderly woman, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
The 93-year-old victim was crossing North Kuakini Street in front of Kaukini Medical Center when the collision took place at about 6:52 a.m. The Honolulu Police Department said the pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk with the walk signal illuminated when she was struck by a vehicle making a left turn from a driveway.
The woman was pronounced dead after being taken to an area trauma center. The driver of the vehicle, a 67-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
Investigators said that speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the accident.
