KAHUKU, HI – An elderly woman was killed in a recent pedestrian collision in the Kahuku area, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

The 90-year-old victim was hit by a vehicle Feb. 21 on Leleuli Street near Pahelehala Loop.  An investigation determined that she was attempting to cross Leleuli Street outside of a marked crosswalk at about 7:30 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle going eastbound.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead after being rushed by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital.  The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old woman, was not injured and stayed at the scene.

Police said neither speed, drugs nor alcohol appeared to be contributing factors in the incident, the 10th traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared to 5 at the same time in 2024.
