Elderly man dies after accident riding bicycle in North Kona

NORTH KONA, HI – A bicycle accident in North Kona last week left an elderly man dead, reports Hawaii News Now.

According to Hawaii Island police, the victim was riding a Dean Titanium Road bicycle westbound on the right shoulder of Hina Lani Street May 21 when he crashed at about 5:20 p.m.

The bicyclist, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after being taken to the Kona Community Hospital.

Investigators looking into the incident do not believe impairment was a contributing factor.  Anyone with further information about what happened was asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
