KAUAI, HI – A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Kauai on Wednesday evening, according to KITV.
The Kauai Police Department said the incident happened n Nawiliwili Road near Nokekula Street. A pedestrian was in the southbound lane of the roadway when he was hit by a vehicle. The victim, a 30-year-old man, was listed in critical condition after being taken to the Queen’s Medical Center.
Investigators determined that the driver of the vehicle involved did not stop to help after the crash and left the scene. So far there has been no description of the vehicle being sought.
Nawiliwili Road was shut down in both directions for about an hour and a half for the accident investigation.
Police are asking for information from drivers who were traveling on Nawiliwili Road on Wednesday night between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.
