HONOLULU, HI – Honolulu police are searching for the driver who struck and critically injured a woman on Friday night.
According to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the hit-and-run incident occurred on a shoulder lane of the H-3 freeway in Kaneohe at about 8:20 p.m.
Honolulu Medical Services said a 20-year-old woman was part of a motorcycle group and was standing on a shoulder of the freeway after stopping to help someone whose motorcycle had stalled out. As she stood on the left shoulder, she was struck by a westbound vehicle and was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle that hit her left the scene going west on the freeway. The vehicle may have been a black sedan or sports car.
