HONOLULU, HI – Honolulu police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in which one of the drivers left the scene, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
A driver was heading west on the H1 Freeway Tuesday night when the accident happened near the Pearl City on-ramp at about 8:55 p.m.
Police said another vehicle suddenly changed lanes and entered his path. The first driver swerved to avoid a collision but collided with a concrete barrier on the right shoulder of the roadway.
That driver, a 61-year-old man, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital. Police said the other motorist kept going west and has yet to be identified.
The investigation by the HPD’s Traffic Department has indicated that at this point, speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the accident.
