HONOLULU, HI – Honolulu firefighters were dispatched to the H-3 Freeway Saturday morning after a car crashed and burst into flames, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.
The accident happened shortly before 10:14 a.m. near the Kaneohe-bound Harano Tunnels, where about 10 firefighters arrived to find a vehicle on fire. The fire was extinguished after about 25 minutes and the driver was found dead in the vehicle.
No details were released on the victim’s identity. No one else was in the vehicle.
The Kaneohe-bound lanes of H-3 were shut down until shortly before 4 p.m. during the accident response and investigation.
