Driver critically injured after crashing into fence in Hawaii Kai area

HONOLULU, HI – A single-vehicle accident in the Hawaii Kai area Thursday afternoon sent a driver to the hospital, reports Hawaii News Now.

Police said a man lost control of his vehicle while driving near Sandy Beach Park in the area of Kalanianaole Highway and Iroquois Road in the McCully neighborhood at about 3 p.m.

The vehicle went off the road, struck a barrier, went across Kalanianaole Highway and crashed into a chain link fence.

The 63-year-old driver was critically injured and transported to an area hospital.

Police investigating the accident said they did not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
