HONOLULU, HI – One person was killed and four others hospitalized after a collision on Saturday night in Oahu, police said.

A report by KHON states that police responded to the area of Kapiolani Boulevard and Waiaka Road after the incident was reported at about 10:30 p.m.

An investigation found that the driver of a Surron electric vehicle was making a left turn at the intersection from Waiaka Road against an illuminated red signal when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The driver of the Surron, a 34-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead early the next morning at an area hospital.  He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 17-year-old male, and his three passengers were taken to the hospital and listed in good condition.
