OAHU, HI – A car accident on Oahu’s North Shore early Thursday morning caused a power outage affecting thousands of people, Hawaii News Now reported.
Officials said a vehicle knocked down a utility pole on Waialua Beach Road near Goodale Avenue sometime around 2 a.m., leaving about 2,000 customers in Haleiwa, Makaha, Mokuleia and Waialua in the dark.
The roadway was shut down as Hawaiian Electric crews responded to the scene and worked to restore power. By about 7 a.m., about 200 customers still remained without power.
