HONOLULU, HI – A car accident in the Salt Lake area early Tuesday morning caused a power outage and snarled traffic in the area, according to Hawaii News Now.
Authorities said a car crashed into a utility pole on Ala Lilikoi Street near Salt Lake Shopping Center at about 12:40 a.m.
The crash knocked out power to about 845 customers in the neighborhood. Crews from Hawaiian Electric were dispatched to the scene to repair the damage.
A stretch of Salt Lake Boulevard was shut down in both directions while the crews worked to restore power. As a result, drivers were detoured and traffic was backed up during the morning commute. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured.
