HONOLULU, HI – Crews were on the scene of a car accident at an apartment building in the Moililli area early Thursday, Hawaii News Now reports.

A car apparently crashed into a concrete wall and then struck an apartment building on Kapiolani Boulevard at about midnight.  The driver was not injured, Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said.

The crash ruptured a gas line, causing a gas leak that prompted the evacuation of some elderly residents of the building.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the crash.
