HONOLULU, HI – A young boy was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Salt Lake area on Saturday afternoon, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
The collision took place at about 3:15 p.m. on Catlin Lane in the Catlin Park neighborhood. Honolulu police stated an unidentified female motorist was traveling westbound when she struck the 4-year-old who was riding his bike in the roadway. The driver then left the scene traveling westbound on Catlin Lane without stopping to render aid or provide information.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services crews responded to treat the boy for multiple injuries and took him to an area hospital, where he was in serious condition. Police said the boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident, which occurred in the area of the Ohana Navy Family Housing.
