HONOLULU, HI – A bicyclist was critically injured in a collision in the McCully area on Tuesday morning, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The incident occurred on Kapiolani Boulevard at about 11:45 a.m. Police said the bicyclist traveled from the sidewalk area into the westbound lanes, and was struck by a westbound vehicle.
The bicycle rider, a 68-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The driver involved, a 36-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
At this time, investigators do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash
