NORTH KONA, HI- A bicyclist died of injuries suffered in a collision in North Kona earlier this month, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
Hawaii island police said the victim of the April 9 incident was 71-year-old man Franz Albert-Ludwig Weber of Kailua-Kona.
Investigators determined Weber was riding a Trek cycle southbound on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway near the 94.5-mile marker at about 9:08 a.m. when he crashed into the back of a 2015 Motor Coach Industries tour bus that was stopped on the highway shoulder.
Weber was pronounced dead a week later after being taken to the Queens Medical Center.
The collision is under investigation by the Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.
